Look at me posting twice in one month! I know its shocking! To top off the shock and awe, I am posting my ninth anniversary present only one day after my anniversary. Happy Anniversary to me!

NINTH ANNIVERSARY - POTTERY & WILLOW

Throw and DVD

For the past nine years I have given Trevor only gifts from the "traditional" list of anniversary presents.  There might be a year in upcoming years that I am unable to give him from this list and have to cross over to the modern gifts, but I would love to stick with the traditional list if I can.  On the traditional list some years there are multiple presents  to give.  Most years I have only given one or the other, our fourth anniversary was the only other time in which I gave him both fruit and flowers.

Instead of giving him something made from Willow wood (which by the way, what is made of Willow wood?) and a potted plant, he got the DVD Willow and the manliest throw one could find from PotteryBarn.  There was a slight problem with wrapping up Willow and giving it to him though, this being the fact that we already owned the movie.  Tell me how crappy of a wife would I be if I wrapped up something we already owned and tried to pass it off as a new gift???  So I didn't wrap up the movie and we turned the night into a stay at home date.

In true coordinating fashion I made a themed dinner for our movie watching pleasure.  In this house we watch Willow while eating miniature burgers and miniature pizza, with a side of littl' smokies and a dessert with miniature cheesecakes.  I know, I know, I should have made miniature Brownies instead. 

It was a perfect night with my man cuddled up on the couch in his new throw watching a movie.  Until next year...

Bronze

I thought I was bad when I was pregnant about updating this little blog of mine...little did I know!!!  Here we go again with another update on updates, I still haven't post my Eighth Anniversary present.  After looking at the most traffic I get from Pinterest my anniversary present ideas get the most hits. So with my ninth anniversary only six days away...

EIGHTH ANNIVERSARY - BRONZE

Bronzer, with a trip to the Beach

I have decided that there is no better feeling than being pregnant in a bikini, no need to suck in! I was seven months pregnant with Graham when I decided this was the best time to take a six hour road trip to the beach (not the best idea I've ever had).  

A few days before our anniversary I wrapped up this bottle of bronzing tanning oil and gave it to Trevor and told him not to make any plans for the upcoming weekend because we were off to the beach! So, did he use the oil? As a matter of fact...it's still sealed and in our bathroom closet, apparently he doesn't like the George Hamilton look!

Texas beaches aren't the best, but they do for a little weekend get away with the hounds and our first "vacation" as a family of three.

Even though it was an overcast weekend these two didn't care, as always water is there favorite place to be.  

All and all looking back on this trip a year later it was a prefect anniversary get away equipped with dogs running into crashing waves, sand everywhere, and sunburns with tan lines I still have!

Thirty One Flavors

I have somehow found that I enjoy surprising people more than I like to be surprised.  Then again I have my ways of figuring things out, so I'm not sure of the last time I was truly surprised.  My favorite person to surprise is my husband.  I think it's becuase I know that man better then he knows himself so I tend to know what to get him that will give him a surprise. So with this birthday approaching this year here I am again with another surprise present.

His birthday this year falls on Thanksgiving so instead of giving him his gift on Thanksgiving I gave it to him a few days earlier to help him feel the seperation between the two holidays.  After last years "Thirty Favorite Things" birthday I had to top myself.  How does one top thirty presents? Give him thirty one!!!

Well I kind of gave him thirty one presents! He got a new Yeti cooler filled with Baskin Robbins 31 Flavors.  He has been enjoying eating a new ice cream flavor every night, and he was even sweet enough to give me my favorite Baskin Robbins flavor, Rainbow Sherbert.  I'm going to have to call this surprise a SUCCESS!

 

 

All Dressed Up

Who doesn't love to get all dressed up?  Slip on a cute little skirt, put on your high heels, and top it off with a tiara!  However, the fairy wings and the boa are what really make the outfit come to life.  As my niece is approaching the "pretty, pretty princess" stage I made her a special present that every kid her age would adore, a dress up chest.

It took some time and many stores to finally find the perfect chest, not only in size but to coordinate with her bedroom as well.  Since it's near impossible to get all dolled up without a mirror I added one to the lid.  Then with some pink metallic puffy paint a little flair was added to get "all dressed up." 

 

I can't wait to dress up and get glamorous with her now!

 

 

 

Copper and Candy

I am apparently horrible at remembering to update my anniversary presents on my blog.  Yet  here I am again 3 months after my anniversary and just now posting this years gift. 

I originally thought this years gift would be easy, the seventh anniversary is the gift of copper or candy.  However, what was I really going to get Trevor?  Candy was too easy and I'm not too sure how much he would appreciate a vase with pennies glued on it or for that matter a roll of copper wire. However, that's when the light bulb went off...copper wire!

 Surround Sound and Wire

 

A few months back Trevor and I started talking about getting a new surround sound/receiver for our house.  We wanted to have more channels on it for the purpose of being able to have outdoor speakers as well.  This present wasn't my normal surprise. I had to tell Trevor that we were going to go shopping together for it because I have idea what makes one receiver better than another besides price.

 

 

 

Now to begin the hunt for something wool or bronze!

 





He asked for nothing, he got nothing!

Trevor told me he wanted nothing for Valentines Day, so I bought him NOTHING!  Well kind of...

N - Nerf Guns, because every 30 year old need some 

O - Oreos of the Mint flavor, yum!

T - Torchy's Tacos Gift Card

H - Hat of the baseball genre

I - iPhone charger and iTunes Gift Card, necessity and something extra

N - Nike socks, more practicality

G - Gun Part, well an IOU

Now he thinks he can continue on this trend with saying he doesn't want ANYTHING or ZILCH, this could go on forever, what have I gotten myself into!

Easely Amused

For Christmas this year my sister and I gave our aunts gift cards to a local painting studio.  You know the ones where you bring a bottle of wine and attempt to get in touch with your artistic abilities.  My sister and I went earlier this year to one and we thought it would make a great Christmas gift for our aunts; we plan to go with them and make it into a Aunt/Niece evening...a little bit of paint...a little bit of wine...a whole lot of fun!!!

Instead of the generic and impersonal white paper envelope I thought I'd spruce up the wrapping a bit to make it a little more festive under the Christmas tree.

 

 

I was able to find the tins at the Target Dollar Spot, bought miniature bottles of wine, and the paint brushes were $2 a pack at Target.  These made for a great Christmas gift, or they would make a great year round gift for anyone (just need a plain galvanized tin or any small basket).

In our new house we purchased a few months back we were lucky enough to get an exercise room.  The only problem is we have no exercise equipment.  So I thought with this anniversary Trevor could pump a little iron!

I guess now is the time I need to start thinking about our 7th anniversary...Copper!

Anniversary Gifts by Year

April 21, 2007...The day I married Trevor!  As our first anniversary approached us the following year I already knew what I was going to get him, well kind of.  I have always known that every anniversary has a traditional gift to give your spouse and I knew that I wanted to follow the traditional anniversary gifts as long as I could, and I have.

I will admit there is one slight issue with giving the traditional anniversary gifts...it's not easy.  I'm not sure how old the list is, but it doesn't tell you exactly what to go buy.  If only the list was a little more straight forward and it said TV, new bike, or what my husband is thinking but won't tell me (now that would be helpful). Instead it has things like cotton, leather, and wood; what am I supposed to do with that?  Luckily I have a year to think about these things! As my sixth anniversary is fast approaching I thought I would share the last five years of anniversary gifts I have given my husband.

FIRST ANNIVERSARY - PAPER

We knew that we wanted to go on a trip for our first anniversary so we purchased tickets to Costa Rica.  We spent two weeks backpacking the country, it was an awesome trip.  Nowadays though you don't get paper tickets any more, so I threw in a little something else...I took abstract pictures of my husbands work truck and printed them out and framed them.

What in the world do you buy a man that is made of cotton? Especially that could be an anniversary present! This one took some thinking.  I purchased concert tickets to one of my husbands favorite bands that was coming to town and wrapped them in the bands t-shirt.

If only we would have gotten married in October or November...FOOTBALL!!! I still love baseball though, it's America's favorite pastime, and games are always fun to go to.

FIFTH ANNIVERSARY - WOOD

Tree and Wood Coupon Book

Due to a bad drought we had the previous year our magnolia tree we planted the first year we bought our house ended up dying.  So this anniversary worked out perfect for me when I went and bought a Chinese Pistache and had it planted in our back yard.  Hanging around the tree I also made a wooden coupon book for the Hubs with things like dinner of his choice, a free massage, etc.
